About Judy
Judy has been a nurse for over 20 years. Her started in the Emergency Department, and she was the Charge Nurse for 9 years. She moved to Community Practice in 2019 when she became a Nurse Practitioner, working in Primary Care and Heart Disease.
In 2021 she started a harsh menopause transition and did not know what was happening. Once she did figure, she realized that providers (herself included) are abysmally trained. She then discovered the world of guideline-based perimenopause and midlife health care. She trained up, opened two Menopause Clinics (so far), and started advocating and educating.
She maintains positions with the Stratford Family Health Team as
Nurse Practitioner Lead, Huron-Perth Heart Failure Program which was recently awarded the 2024 Bright Lights Award for Excellent Team-Based Shared Care Delivery
Medical Director, Stratford Family Health Team Midlife Women’s Clinic
Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
Judy is also working with the Centre for Effective Practice as a Top Expert Group Member, developing a Perimenopause Guideline-Based Care tool for Healthcare Providers. They hope to publish the tool by the end of this year to improve access to this care.
She has opened a private midlife men’s and women’s health clinic for those seeking midlife health care including safe and guideline-based hormone therapy.
Judy has studied with with The Menopause Society, Queen’s University, The Canadian Headache Society, the Harvard School of Medicine, Athabasca University, and Toronto Metropolitan University.
Over her career, Judy has twice received awards for her commitment to improving patient care delivery.
Outside of work
Judy enjoys being in nature, mountain biking, and spending time with loved ones. Her husband Jeff has joined the practice in administrative, fitness and nutrition mentoring capacities to help provide the care midlife people need in as timely a fashion as possible.
Hallowe’en just might be her favourite time of year.
She hopes to help others achieve their full potential for physical, emotional, and mental health and wellness.
In case you’re wondering (she gets asked often), she is on the other side of 45. Her transition started about 3 years ago.
